It’s always exciting when Hill School Headmaster Treavor Lord draws the winning ticket number for the annual Grandparents’ Day raffle, but the spring 2016 raffle winners added extra dashes of jubilation and generosity. When Mr. and Mrs. Hahn, owners of DH Service, the company which has long provided janitorial service to the school, were notified that they had won the $10,000 prize, they responded by donating their winnings back to Hill. Their generous gift was a demonstration for Hill School students of the power of community and philanthropy.
The Hahns, who have partnered with the Hill School for twenty years, attended the annual board-faculty dinner and received their official Hill School chairs in recognition of their years of service. The Hahns received well-deserved applause from faculty, board members, and loved ones. They also accepted a framed photograph of Hill School students and faculty gathered at the outdoor amphitheater on campus. At the center of the photo, Hill School eighth graders held up a thank-you banner signed by Hill School students, faculty, administration, and staff. When Mr. Lord drew the Hahns’ ticket number, everybody won.
